The Chapin Police Department would to like to remind all residents to lock their homes, garages and vehicle doors for added safety. Studies show that would be robbers are less likely to attempt a secondary means of entry if faced with a locked door or window.

The Chapin Police department is sad to announce the resignation of Chief Coad from the Chapin Police Department. We are currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of chief of police. See the information on how to apply on the Village of Chapin home page for more information.

The Chapin Police Department is tasked with law and ordinance enforcement for the Village of Chapin. There are currently 5 part-time officers. If you need to speak with an officer regarding a non-emergency matter, please call (217) 472-3111. If it is an emergency, call 911

The Chapin Police Department is now accepting applications for part-time officers. Anyone interested can pick an application up at the Village Hall, or see the Ordinances page to download an application.

Police Department Services
The Chapin Police Department has many services available to the citizens of the Village of Chapin. These Include:
New Camera Purchased
The Chapin Police Department was recently authorized to purchase a new in car camera. This camera records both front and read video, and will be used on all traffic stops. This video record helps protect both police officers from false allegations, but more so the public from false reports from police officers.
Other Police News
The Village of Chapin recently passed ordnance changes to park hours and hired Aaron French as a part time officer.
