Projects:

Village of Chapin receives StormReady Community Designation.
StormReady is a nationwide community preparedness program that uses a grassroots approach to help communities develop plans to handle all types of severe weather—from tornadoes to tsunamis. The program encourages communities to take a new, proactive approach to improving local hazardous weather operations by providing emergency managers with clear-cut guidelines on how to improve their hazardous weather operations. The Village of Chapin was deemed to be StormReady by the NWS and awarded the StormReady Community designation in March 2009.

New Water Supply Project:

The Village of Chapin has elected to pursue an upgrade to the Village Water Treatment plant. This upgrade will require the implementation of a membrane filtration that will in essence double treat the water going to Village of Chapin customers. This is in response to a new IEPA guideline that requires a new separation between ground water and ground water under the influence of the surface water. Benton’s and Associates will be working with the Village and IEPA to retrofit and improve the village’s water treatment plant.

An additional project the Village is working on requires the movement of public utilities under and around the new US 67 Highway expansion. Addition of a new road connecting Cooper with Ash Streets will also be part of this project.
